BARBARA LYNN GORDON
Batgirl
Something has changed within me, something is not the same
I'm through with playing by the rules of someone else's game
Too late for second guessing; too late to go back to sleep
It's time to try my instincts, close my eyes and leap.
And won't you think I'm pretty
name;; Barbara Lynn Gordon
Name Meaning: "Stranger" "From the Lake" "Great Hill"
nickname;;Babs
The nickname was given to her by her Father when she was very young, and once her Father died, and she was given to her Uncle, the nickname stuck.
age;; 19
date of birth;; August 15th, 1988
gender;; Female
occupation;; Librarian / Crime Fighter
sexual orientation;; Dick Grayson, Straight, Heterosexual
When I'm standing top the bright lit city
hair;; She's a natural red head, she's never dyed her hair in her life.
eyes;; She calls them emerald green.
height;; She stand at around 5'3.
weight;; 115, she's pretty much a stick with very little curves.
build;; Well-built, due to the fact that she works out with Dick and Bruce, and she's done gymnastics all her life. She's just a little curvy, and what curves she does have she's grateful for.
piercings;; Ears
tattoos;; None, though she has thought about getting a tattoo on her lower back that says: Nightwing, just to freak Dick out.
style;; Being a girl that has been spoiled all of her life by her foster parents and Bruce, she dresses well. Though during the spring she'll wear cute little flowery dresses, during the summer she usually runs around in a tank top and shorts, the fall she goes casual with a hoodie and some jeans, and during the winter she's bundle up in a nice warm sweater. When she's with Dick, or at some event that she needs to dress up for she wears gorgeous gowns. After all, she does have a credit card directly to Bruce's bank account.
When she's Batgirl, well she's not quiet as stylish as she is as Barbara Gordon. She at first she wore the grey and blue suit that she made for Halloween one year, however once she got officially adopted into the Bat-family, she got refitted into a black and gold suit.
And I'll take your hand and pick you up
favorites;;
Dick Grayson♥- Dick has always been the boy for her, though they weren't official until after her sixteenth birthday, he has always been there for her. Whether if she needed a ride, or if she was sad and needed a cuddle, he was there for her. No ifs, ands or buts.
Being Batgirl- Batgirl is something that she always wanted to be, ever since her Dad came home and she overheard him telling her Mom that there was a masked a vigilante in Gotham City. She wanted to be out there fighting him. She didn't get brave, bored, or inspired enough to become Batgirl until after her freshman year of college. She's been in love with it since.
Reading- Reading is something that Barbara loves. Ever since she was a little girl she's been in a library. Bruce's library is something that she adores and just loves sitting in there to soak in the amazing glory that is his library. It's also why she's a librarian.
Hacking into things- There some file you need? Oh there's a security system hiding it? No problem! She loves digging into things that she doesn't need to know. She's done background checks on almost all of the people she talks to and becomes acquainted with. She doesn't want to be spied on by one of Two-Face's goons, after all.
Fighting along-side Bruce- It's not just crime-fighting that gives her a thrill, it's working with Bruce that makes her happy. He's a legend, he's Gotham's Dark Knight. Being apart of the Bat Family is something that she loves and is honored every time she fights beside him.
Her Daddy- Well he's not actually her Daddy, but he's all she's known as her Father. He's one of the reasons that she become Batgirl.
hates;;
The Joker- He is the criminal that frightens her the most. He's tortured her almost every year since she was six years old. If he ever found out that she was Batgirl, she has no doubt in her mind that he would kill her in a heartbeat.
Arkham Asylum- Arkham Asylum gives her the serious creeps, she's visited as both Barbara and Batgirl.
Two-Face- Harvey Dent was something that her Father trusted, respected and looked to for help. When he became Two-Face, her father lost all respect for him, and so did she. He frightens her.
Liars- She's been lied too many times in her short life for her to tolerate it anymore. You lie to her once, and she'll forgive you, but after that she'll just stop talking to you, unless you have a good reason. Like Dick and Bruce did.
Cheaters- Sure, she's been lucky enough to have a faithful boyfriend, but she's seen her friends' hearts get broken by stupid boys and girls. She can't stand it.
Sluts / Gold Diggers- She can't stand easy girls that just want in her boyfriend's pants because he name is on the oldest son of the Wayne Family.
strengths;;
Gymnastics- She's been doing it since she was seven. She was on the gymnastics team all the way through college, it's something she does for fun and does very well in.
Computer Skills- She's a computer whiz, she's been tinkering with them since she was little, and as she got older and got the best things that money could buy (thanks to Bruce) she just learned how to do things.
Some Fighting- Bruce trains her hard, and even after five years of being trained by Bruce, and 3 years of self-defense classes, she could be better.
Dedication- She's dedicated to anything she starts on. She dedicated to her job, her family, and her alter-ego. Nothing could change that, ever.
The Bat Family- If it weren't for those in the Bat Family, she wouldn't be as strong as she is. Dick keeps her sane and calm, Bruce keeps her strong, Alfred gives her amazing advice, and Tim is just amazing.
weaknesses;;
Painful Memories- Barbara tends to zone off and find herself thinking about something that has hurt her. Whether it's the Joker, Jonathan Crane, or someone else from her past. She tends to remember the past and not be able to get out of thinking about it.
Dick- She would happily jump off a bridge for him, if something happened to him, she wouldn't be able to control herself. She would hunt down the person that did it and make them pay. She loves him with all of her heart.
Her Dad / Bruce- Her Dad and Bruce go into the same category because they contain similar roles on her life. They are both strong male figures in her life. Bruce is like her older, dependable brother, and her Dad is her Dad. She would do anything for the both of them, and she gets caught up in the moment of seeing her Father or Bruce hurt her mouth would act before she could think about it.
Her Clumsiness- She's clumsy outside of her Batgirl costume due to the fact she's learned how to walk in heels. At the beginning she was unstable and she couldn't exactly walk in the heels that her boots had.
Her Compassion- She's compassionate, she can't stand to see someone get hurt. Even if it's the villain. She feels horrible about it. She can't kill, and she wouldn't know what to do if someone died while she was trying to defend them.
quirks/habits;;
She plays with Dick's hair a lot, she just loves it.
She bites the skin on her fingers when she's nervous.
She paces when she's anxious or worried.
She uses her comlink for pretty much everything, if she's separated from Dick or Bruce and they're in a not-safe situation she talks to them.
She tends to get a bit carried away with the personal affection in costume, and out.
She's possessive of Dick, and gets offended when anyone touches or hits on him. In or out of costume.
goals/dreams;;
To get rid of the crime in Gotham.
To marry her wonder boy ♥
To have children with that same wonder boy♥
To keep Gotham safe as long as she can
To keep her Dad safe.
overall personality;;
Barbara Gordon is passionate about everything she does. Whether it's being Batgirl, or studying for a test. She does her best and she won't give up on it, ever. No matter how dark it gets or how hard it seems to accomplish. That's worked most of her life, and she plans on it working for the rest of it.
She's stubborn, fiery, and she has a temper. Her temper will get the best of her, but Dick can usually calm her down with a neck massage or just a squeezing of her hand. If he's not around, well more than likely there's going to be hair pulled.
She loves her family and friends, and she would do anything for them. No doubt about that, period. She'd go to the end of the galaxy and back for Dick, she'd risk her life for Bruce and her Dad, and she'd do anything to protect Tim. They are her life as much as being Batgirl is. If they were in danger, she'd drop anything she was doing and go help them. No doubt in her mind about it.
Overall she's just another silly ginger in Gotham City.
And keep you there so you can see
father;; David Gordon (Biological Father) {deceased;31}- Her father was someone that she would not like to know. He was an alcoholic and that is what led to their death. His brother says he was a good man, but from what led to their eventual death, she doubts this.
mother;; Renee Gordon (Biological Mother){deceased;28}- Her mother, so her Uncle says, was a wonderful woman. He says that she is everything like her, and for this Babs misses her.
siblings;; James Gordon (adopted brother;12) He's her annoying little pest of a brother. He walks in at the wrong times, forgets to knock, but sometimes she's just grateful he's there.
relatives;; Jim Gordon (Adoptive Father) {Commissioner;67}- He's her daddy, there's no doubt in her mind that he would risk everything for her. She can't stand lying to him about being Batgirl.
Sarah Essen Gordon (Adoptive Step-Mother) {Cop;65} She's one of Barbara's best friends, and she gives wonderful advice.
Barbara Gordon {Adoptive Mother} {Lawyer;53}

history;;
Barbara Gordon was born to Renee and David Gordon, her life with them was short lived. Due to her Father being an alcoholic, her mother and father died when she was a little older than 11 months old. She moved from Chicago to Gotham City, and the rest was pretty much history.
She was spoiled by Bruce Wayne most of her life. When she was six years old she faced her first horror of Gotham city, she was thrown out a five story apartment building by the Joker. That was also when she fell in love with Batman. Love, in a six year old's eyes, of course.
As she grew up, she spent more and more time at the Gotham City Police Department due to the fact that her mother and father worked nights. She met the cops of the police department and she was sure, at the age of seven, that she wanted to protect people just like her Daddy.
Two years later, Barbara and Jim Gordon welcomed their son James into the world, and Babs discovered the pains of being an older sister.
When she was twelve, the idea of working beside Batman came true, sort of. This was when she met her Boy Wonder for the first time. Of course, before then, she had met Dick Grayson. She shortly realized that the two boys had a lot of similarities. She had had a crush on Dick since the young age of ten, and meeting her Boy Wonder for the first time made everything so much more confusing.
Many of her school nights were spent flirting with the Boy Wonder while her Father and Batman talked elsewhere. And her days were spent at Wayne Manor, laying in the arms of Dick Grayson while trying to do homework or watching a movie.
At the age of fourteen she realized that her Mother and Father were not happy with each other. She spent more and more time at the Wayne Manor, sleeping over on school nights, walking from her house to the Manor in the rain because she couldn't get a ride. She hated listening to them fighting and she wanted nothing more than to just get the hell away.
At fifteen she became one of Gotham's youngest college students. Things changed for her drastically. She was living on her own with a roommate, three years older than her, she wanted to live a life of a college student. She pushed Dick away, deciding to "stay after class" than to hang out with him or to go to a party with him.
That summer she became Batgirl, out of pure boredom. She hadn't been wanting to accomplish anything she just wanted some fun on a summer night when there was nothing else to do. It turned into so, so much more. She met Robin that night, Batman was out of town somewhere and Gotham was horribly boring. He took her and she saw Gotham the way the others saw it. She saw the crime of Gotham and that's when everything started.

How the hell did this happen? Barbara couldn’t even think to form the full details in her head, first the Arkham breakout. They hadn’t rallied as many of the criminals back into their cells as they had thought, they had still managed to escape only a few weeks later and cause even more chaos. The prisoners of Blackgate had been released as well, as if the loonies from Arkham weren’t enough to keep her awake at night. The death toll was doing nothing but only increasing as the night went on. The city was getting more and more chaotic as the seconds went by, and there was nothing they could do. This was something that the four of them, five if you included Selina, couldn’t handle. Bruce wasn’t saying anything that she agreed with, he was trying to take this on all by his own.
After all, he had spent a night in hell, why couldn’t he take on every criminal Gotham had had? Perhaps she shouldn’t have doubted him, but she had noticed over the years: pressure and stress made Bruce push people to their limits, and if not those around him, he pushed himself. Having Gotham in a state where it seemed as though nothing could say the city was not something that Bruce liked, nor could he handle. Barbara worried about Bruce, it was in her programming to worry about him, though if she expressed any concern, he’d look at her like she was crazy and tell her not to worry. She had always worried over him, and Dick, before she had known either of them were the Dynamic Duo. That felt like so long ago, she had just been ready to go to her second year of college when she had donned the costume of Batgirl. Now she was out of college, and while she had been Gotham University’s youngest graduates yet, the years had passed and she had really done nothing since college.
It was midnight on a December night and the noises throughout Gotham City could be heard easily. The screams, the cries, the city was back in its state of havoc that they had tried so hard to get rid of. Of course, the Joker would never allow that. There wasn’t a Christmas Eve, or Christmas that he hadn’t spent giggling like a fool and blowing up some building. Even though, as far as Barbara could tell he had yet to blow up a building tonight.
Boom.
She had spoken too soon. She hadn’t even needed to look over to see Bruce visibly cringe at the noise, or the sight of flames in the distance. It was as though she could just hear the Joker giggling in the back of her mind, oh that was a laugh she hated. She had heard it all too much in the last fifteen years. Even since she was six years old she had heard that laugh and she cringed every time she did. She could hardly believe that Batman had been working to save Gotham for sixteen years. It wasn’t like Bruce couldn’t age; it was just that he was refusing to accept it. After all Gotham was his city, he had to save it. Barbara knew he had this thought that if he could save everyone in Gotham he would have been respecting his parents’ death.
Barbara was almost certain that Martha and Thomas Wayne wouldn’t have wanted their son to be out on Christmas Day dressed up as a giant bat. Perhaps she was wrong, but she knew that while he was doing this, he was just showing the Joker that he was right. The laughter continued to echo in the back of her mind, and she wondered how long it would be before the Joker came searching for the Bat family.
Christmas, he hated Christmas, at least that’s what the Joker normally told himself on Christmas Day. However this Christmas was different, he wasn’t stuck behind the walls of Arkham, and it was unlikely that Batman was going to find him today. That meant that he wasn’t going to be beaten to a pulp and have to listen to Harley fuss over him for the next few weeks. Life was good, for now. The sound of that building blowing up was just the highlight of his day. He giggled happily as he looked upon Gotham from the empty building he and his henchmen (who he had killed later on, because they had done something or another wrong) had claimed as their headquarters.
Harley, he believed, should have been thankful for what he had gotten her that Christmas. Two little hyena puppies that he had stolen from the Gotham zoo, he suspected they were inbred. They kept running around the building and chewing on things, including his pants leg. He had already told Harley that if she didn’t get them under control he was, and that wasn’t going to be pretty. He would have wasted all that time sneaking into the zoo and taking the pups from their mother, if he just ended up killing them anyway.
Where was Harley? The Joker was honestly surprised she wasn’t in the same room as him pretending to be Mrs. Claus. More than likely that would be her Christmas present to him, for he really didn’t want to deal with her soft little whines of “Mistah J” and “Puddin’”. He had decided that he wasn’t going to threaten to throw her out a window, or kill her, or anything like that. This only happened two days every year: her birthday, and Christmas. Now, if she was going to be a pain about it all he would take back the mental promise and do it anyway. Though, he was pretty certain he was in far too good of a mood to do that right now.
