After she had fallen asleep, Paige was sure she'd wake up on the couch, laying there uncomfortably with her neck arched and her body curled up. She was more than surprised when she rolled over, the sun hitting her face, and she was surrounded by blankets and comfort. When did she make the transfer from couch to bed? There's no way Shane would've carried her...would he? She knew he wasn't an asshole, but did he really care if she was left on the couch? It was an admirable thing to do, that's for sure, and Paige was glad that she didn't have to suffer through a torturous night tossing and turning awkwardly. Her head lifted up slowly, and she rubbed the sleep from her eyes as she began to peer around the large room. Taken back a bit, she threw her arms over her head and stretched her muscles, attempting to wake up her whole body. She climbed out of the bed, her bare feet hitting the floor. She wasn't too shocked to find that Shane was gone, figuring he'd already gotten ready and was on the hunt for food. How did he wake up so early? Especially considering he went to bed after her! The male mind confuses Paige. Shrugging it off, she went about her morning with her usual routine. Deciding on a darker look today, she grabbed her favorite black skinny jeans and a black tank top, the words 'off the deep end' written down in white font. As she did before, Paige hung up the back of the door and hopped into the shower, using the small shampoo and conditioner bottles. Before she left. she'd have to snag one of them, for memories. When she was done cleaning herself, she turned off the water and did her hair, deciding to again let her curls remain. She was too lazy to straighten them out today. With a touch of make-up and her black and white checkered leather jacket, she was ready for their day of shopping and fun.
Just as she suspected, Shane was waiting in the room with coffee and bagels. She greeted him with a smile, taking her share and mixing in the sugar and cream with her coffee. "Yeah, that sounds just about right to me. We gotta choose just the right place to start, though. You know as well as I do that some of the fashion around here is kind of, well, scary" She replied with a laugh, taking a chunk out of her bagel. When the two were settled and ready to go, they headed downstairs and through the lobby, waiting outside for a taxi to pull over and pick them up. Moments later, that famous yellow car swerved up to the curb and allowed the pair to get in. When they brought up the fact that they were going shopping, the driver had a good idea and offered to take us to his favorite place. Since neither of them really knew where they were heading to, they agreed with no questions. Paige sipped on her coffee as they sped through traffic and turned down various streets, on their way to the shopping plaza. In her mind, she made a list of things she would need. On top, and one of the most important things, was some pajama pants. She didn't care if they were stupid and cheesy, with 'I<3NY' written all over them. All she knew is that when they went to the hotel tonight, she wanted to be warm. Other than that, she wanted some new dresses, and maybe a shirt or two. She'd been running low on things to wear around town at night in South Ridge. And where else to get some new outfits than shopping in New York? No one would have what she was wearing, and there was no doubt in her mind she would catch the attention of various people, even if she didn't want it. When the car stopped to let them out, she was shaken from her list and hopped out, letting Shane grab the fair, and together they decided on their first store.
Shane suggested a high end fashion store for their first adventure. Thinking it would be a good laugh, Paige agreed and followed him in, peering around at what the critics called 'chic'. As they walked around, they figured that they should enjoy themselves while they were there. Grabbing anything and everything in sight, they ran to the dressing room and tried on whatever they could get their hands on. From hideous and barely movable dresses to over sized glasses and extremely tight pants, they had a fair share of laughs and funny moments. To document just how ridiculous they looked, Shane took out his camera and snapped a few candids of them doing their best model poses. It was extremely funny and light hearted, until the staff had to ask them to leave the store because they were causing a disturbance. With a rude comment and one last cackle, the pair returned everything to its proper place and left the store, heading out to more normal things. As the day went on, they seemed to visit more and more stores. At Old Navy, Paige swiped up a pair of striped blue and black pajama pants for a fairly low price, something that was enjoyable for her and Sarah. Shane picked up some nice shirts and a new pair of sunglasses, which Paige really liked. At Wet Seal, she found some really cute dresses that she ended up buying, along with the scarf Shane opted to get her. She didn't detest; in fact she really enjoyed the scarf and thought it was cute he made her promise to wear it when she was with him. "Ha, I promise I will. Pinky promise even." She said, holding out her hand to his.
When they had finished their purchases and decided they were done with their shopping, Shane suggested they go back to the hotel to drop their things off. Paige agreed, and a taxi quickly brought them away from the shopping plaza and back to their hotel, allowing them to rush up to the room and grab some things before coming back down and returning. Shane told her he wanted to go out to dinner at this restaurant he used to go to all the time, and Paige thought it was a good idea. After all, how much hotel food can a person take? Now, to be honest, Paige was never big on foreign food. She just liked eating things with normal, pronounceable names. So when they pulled up to a quiet French cafe, she was a bit skeptical. The modern setting made her feel a bit better, and the menu did as well. After Shane ordered his food, which seemed rather yummy to Paige, she asked for the same thing and followed him back to the table. As they waited for their food, they talked about their eventful day and what they enjoyed the most. When Shane brought up the unmovable lady, Paige burst out laughing. "Oh my god, that lady was too funny. Honestly, I think she was deaf. How could she not hear you?!" Her outburst caused some awkward looks from other customers from around the small restaurant. She collected herself, but still continued to giggle quietly with Shane. Other peoples stupidity made her laugh sometimes; it was a bad habit. When their food was ready, they quickly enjoyed it together and decided to walk through Central Park afterwards. Paige had no problem with that what so ever, considering it was her favorite site in NYC. Plus, it seemed like a good end of the day activity. The park was a relaxing and peaceful place, just what they needed after the craziness they endured today.
Being in Central Park gave Paige an emotional trip. She loved being back there after being somewhere totally different for so long. But she hated some of the awful memories it brought back to her mind, memories she tried to forget time and time again. Shane's goofy stories lightened her mood, that's for sure. It even inspired her to share some of her own. As they walked by various snow covered scenery, Paige saw a familiar landmark. "See that bench over there?" She questioned, pointing across the park to the small wooden structure. "That's where I got my first kiss. I was in eighth grade. His name was Johnny Parker. It was spring time. You know how the flowers get when it's spring time; they're all bright shades of pink and red and yellow. It was a realy beautiful sight... Too bad it wasn't worth it at all." A weird stare from Shane made her giggle, knowing she had more explaining to do. "I know it sounds all perfect and romantic, but it was rather suckish. He wasn't even a good kisser. And after that afternoon, he didn't talk to me again. Maybe I scared him off. Or maybe I was the bad kisser!" After a moment of silence, she shook her head no and laughed, claiming that was impossible. The funny stories that they told each other made Paige feel more at ease walking around in such a memory filled place. When they're walk was all finished, which was rather successful, Shane told her they'd be coming back tomorrow night, which she looked forward to. She wanted Central Park to be the last thing she saw before they left. Whistling for a cab to bring them home, the pair crawled into the car once it arrived and paid the man when they reached their destination, slowly making their way from the lobby to their room. It was obvious that they were both extremely tired, and immediately they changed into their pajama's and settled into their beds, thinking about plans for tomorrow.
Laying down, Paige folded her arms across her stomach, looking up at the ceiling. When Shane reminded her that tomorrow would be their last day, she couldn't help but get upset. "Guh, I know! I'm gonna be so sad when we have to leave. We'll just have to come back again soon. Or else I'll explode. Or something of that dramatic nature." With a yawn, she tossed herself over on her side, peering at the clock. It was sort of early for them to be getting ready for bed. But, they had a busy say, so she supposed it was alright. And plus, Paige slept in anyways, so it wasn't like it mattered to her when she went to bed, just so long as she was sleeping. As Shane asked her about their plans for tomorrow, Paige had to think about it for a few minutes. She wanted their last day to be memorable, fun, something they could talk about the whole ride home. "Well, you already said we'd be going back to Central Park, so that'll be fun. Maybe until then we could hang around here? I mean, we've almost been here for four days and we haven't done any exploring. There has to be something fun to do here, y'know? Maybe there's a swimming pool or a hot tub or something!" Staying in during the day seemed like a good idea to Paige. If they were going to be out all night at the park, she didn't want to exhaust herself by going into the city again all day long. It didn't seem like the smartest of ideas, and she honestly wanted to look around the place they were staying it. It looked nice enough; there must be something they could do, right?
Yawning, she tossed her body back over, thinking about how their last day would go. Though she wouldn't admit it until now, she had been sending Shane signals this entire trip. The holding hands thing, falling asleep on his shoulder, the stolen glances and flirty conversations. She was trying to get a point across: she had feelings for him. Not her usual feelings of lust and attraction, though she did have those too. But, she wanted to be something more with him. She wanted to try something different and be committed to him and only him, if only for a little while. But, the only problem with all of this was that Paige had no clue how he felt about her. When you were going to hook up with someone, it was a lot easier to tell if they were in to you or not. Relationships were harder. She hadn't the slightest idea about how to go asking him how he felt about her. She didn't want to be awkward and ask him out front and openly. That could fuck up their whole friendship, especially if that's how he wanted it to stay. If he wanted to try it though, just like she did, Paige found herself okay with that. She'd never had these sort of thoughts or feelings for anyone before, and to be honest it was scary for her. She was scared that he would reject her and she'd be left to look like an idiot. She was also scared that he would return her feelings and want to try something serious, which she'd never done before. At this point, all Paige knew that was across from her in that bed was a guy she really cared about, and for now that would have to do. With the emotional discoveries she just encountered, Paige felt her lids becoming heavy and closing slowly, sending her to sleep until the next day, in which she would decide what to do with how she felt.
Just as she suspected, Shane was waiting in the room with coffee and bagels. She greeted him with a smile, taking her share and mixing in the sugar and cream with her coffee.
