overall personality;;
Ray is an affable, laid back guy with a hard-luck streak. He is over-stressed, overworked and never capable of catching a break. What sets Ray apart from other superheroes is his down to earth sensibility and youthful witticism. Constantly the voice of sanity in an insane world, Ray is both horrified and fascinated by his weird life, his weirder family and the wild world in which he lives in. A regular guy with regular guy habits, Ray's selflessness and courage is his greatest trait, though it his ability to laugh at himself and the world around him that endears him to others.
Ray is often times flippant and aloof, but he is insightful and completely ready to help others in a pinch. He has an unremarked sense of selflessness that enables him to sacrifice himself for the sake of others. Ray is a superhero because he likes using his powers to help people and though he dislikes the excess baggage of the adventurer's lifestyle, he enjoys the altruistic aspects the most. Ray isn't politically conscious or even socially intelligent. He has a problem grasping the concept of " politically correctness " and has a habit of sticking foot in his mouth. What he lacks in tact, he makes for in likability
, which has gotten him pretty far in life so far.
And keep you there so you can see[/size]

history;;
From a very young age, Raymond Terrill is told by his supposed father that exposure to direct sunlight will kill him. Privately tutored in his window-darkened home, he is dubbed "Night Boy" by the media. At the age of eighteen, Ray learns the truth about his heritage while at the deathbed of his father, "Happy" Terrill. The dying man admits that he was the Golden Age Ray, and that exposure to sunlight will activate Raymond's own light-based super powers. As a child he would have been unable to control such power, and thus had to be kept in darkness. At the funeral for "Happy" Terrill, Ray meets his cousin, Hank, who urges him to become a super-hero like his father. When he refuses, "Happy" shows up very much alive, in his classic Ray costume and looking far younger than he should, to meet his son. He tells Raymond that he was in fact raised by his uncle, Thomas Terrill, and that he must use his newfound powers to save the Earth from a powerful cosmic light-entity. Raymond eventually decides to take up the mantle of "The Ray," defeats the evil Dr. Polaris, and succeeds in dissuading the light entity from its destructive purpose.
Ray adventure continues, bringing him into conflict with Brimstone, Vandel Savage and Neron. After the death of Superman, he joins the Justice League for one year of service and serves in the Justice League Task Force with Triumph, Gypsy and Martian Manhunter. In the offing, Ray has a brief romance with Black Canary. Ray continued to adventure after the Justice League Task Force disbanded, remaining a reserve member of the League. During this time, he sells his soul to Neron, fights a video game character made real, battles his impulsive younger sibling Spitfire (Joshua Terrill) and argues with both his mom (Nadine Terrill) and his manipulative father (Happy Terrill). Ray later appears at a Titans recruitment drive and joins Kyle Rayner's Justice League of Air. Ray takes part in the battle against Mageddon and the Final Night crisis, helping to forge a miniature sun. Joining the Justice Society of America during the Imperiex invasion, Ray and other " Freedom Fighters " help the captured Daxamite people. Ray later joins Young Justice, which disbands soon after.
During the Infinite Crisis, Ray joins the Freedom Fighters but the team is ambushed and defeated. The Ray is captured by the alternative Alexander Luthor, but escapes and joins the battle. After the One Year event, Ray joins the new Freedom Fighters defeating the traitorous Stan Silver and retaking the mantle of The Ray. During the Final Crisis, Ray serves as a courier for the resistance and later manages to create a massive Metron emblem, severely damaging Darkseid's Anti-Life equation.
After the Final Crisis, Ray return to civilian life, working as a courier for Lightspeed Deliveries. Ray continues to adventure as The Ray.

There were great many things Ray never wanted to see again. Keeping Up with the Kardasians, LOLcats, People who say " Looking like a foo' with they pants on the ground ", James Van Der Beek. Among these list of things, the most highest was listed simply as HER. Her was Jenny Jurgen, a tall thin brunette with wiry glasses and a milky complexion. The reason was simple: Ray had once been in love with her.
It was not cold that day. The air was sharp in the way only winter brought and the light was dull gray and dim, but Ray was not chilly in his jumpsuit and jacket. His lips tasted the frost in the vapors that leapt from his tongue, but he had his gloves on and that was alright. He was walking down Fulson street toward the subway when he saw her. She was arm-holding a shopping bag and pushing a stroller with the blissful intent of a busy person. She walked with a happy bob. Her curls bounced with each step. Ray's heart fell out of his chest and landed in his stomach. His brow narrowed and then blood rushed to his face. He set his feet to move before she saw him. As he stepped off the corner, she called up to him and he turned. He made a show of seeming surprised, acting as if he had not noticed her coming down the street and waited as she approached.
They talked for a whole ten minutes. She talked about her husband. Ray talked about his third floor walk up and his collection of pokemon miniature. She told him how happy she was. How she was a manager at the bank and how Kayla was going to be two soon. Ray listened and said nothing. He checked his watch, made an excuse and took his leave. Jenny kissed him on his cheek before he left and she squeezed his hand. Ray smiled and turned away and when he was sure she wasn't looking he frowned and ducked his hands into his pocket.
She had done nothing but have a good life and this had crushed him somehow. He worked the afternoon in a funk until...
" Is that a dragon? " he said as he turned the corner.
And it was.
